The run

A family 5K with one purpose

The Old 41 Run is a 5K hosted by the Burton and Matthews families, and Saturday, October 24th is the inaugural running! The plan for year one is simple: get friends and neighbors together on a fall morning, run a great stretch of road, and support a worthy organization – City of Refuge. Every race fee and every additional donation goes straight to their work.

The course starts and finishes at C.W. Matthews and follows historic Old 41 Highway along the base of Kennesaw Mountain – it’s flat, fast, and the colors will be beautiful in October. The event is organized through Aspen Collective, a family charitable organization, and co-hosted by C.W. Matthews Contracting Company. Come run the old road with us!

Where the money goes

City of Refuge is a faith-based nonprofit founded in 1997 to help individuals and families in Atlanta transition out of crisis and into stability. From its campus in Atlanta’s West Side community, it has served more than 35,000 people through programs in housing, workforce development, youth and education, health and wellness, and anti-trafficking. Proceeds from the Old 41 Run go to City of Refuge. If you’d like to give more, add a donation when you register or give in person on race morning. We also encourage all attendees to consider volunteering at City of Refuge, as they offer a wide range of opportunities to get involved in person.

Registration payments and additional gifts are processed by The Invisible Hand Foundation, a private foundation the race organizers use to route event proceeds to City of Refuge.

The course

Down historic Old 41, and back

A flat, fast down-and-back on historic Old 41 Highway, past Kennesaw Mountain. The northbound lane is closed to traffic for the race. Start and finish are at the C.W. Matthews office; the road reopens at 9:00 AM.

Packet pickup

Bib and t-shirt pickup is Friday, October 23, 10:00 AM–7:00 PM in the lobby of the 1600 building. Encouraged but not required — you can also pick up your packet on the morning of the race, starting at 7:00 AM. One person may pick up for a whole group.

Register early — cap is 150

Field is capped at 150 runners. Registration closes Friday, October 16. No day-of registration. Register by October 1 to guarantee your shirt size.

Ready to run?

$30 to run or walk, including a short-sleeve Comfort Colors race tee if you register by October 1. Not racing? Add a spectator + tee ticket for $20, or grab a free spectator ticket for the head count.

Registration runs on Zeffy, which is free for nonprofits — funded by an optional tip you can decline. Every dollar of proceeds goes to City of Refuge. You'll see a tip prompt at checkout; it's optional. You can also add an optional donation to City of Refuge at checkout.

How does packet pickup work?
Packet pickup (race bib and t-shirt) is Friday, October 23, 10:00 AM–7:00 PM in the lobby of the 1600 building at C.W. Matthews, 1600 Kenview Drive. Early pickup is encouraged but not required — you can also pick up your packet on race morning starting at 7:00 AM. One person may pick up packets for their whole group.
Where do I park?
Free parking is available at the 1600 Kenview Drive entrance — follow signs to the parking lot. Gates open at 7:00 AM; please arrive early, since the road closes for the race and reopens at 9:00 AM sharp.
Can I bring a stroller, or walk it?
Yes to both — this is a family event. Everyone starts together at 8:00 AM, and walkers and strollers are welcome. Just be sure to finish before the road reopens at 9:00 AM.
What happens if the weather is bad?
The Old 41 Run happens rain or shine.
Is a shirt guaranteed?
Register by October 1 to guarantee your shirt size. Every runner gets a short-sleeve Comfort Colors race tee; after the cutoff, sizes are subject to availability. You'll choose your size (Youth S–L, Adult S–2XL) during registration. Not running but want the shirt? There's a Spectator + T-Shirt ticket for $20.
What's the refund policy?
All registrations are final and entry fees are non-refundable. If you can't make it, email info@old41run.com by Friday, October 16 to transfer your registration to someone else.
Do guests and spectators need to register?
Spectators are free, but please grab a free spectator ticket during registration — one per person, kids included — so we have an accurate head count for food and planning. Want a shirt without running? There's also a Spectator + T-Shirt ticket for $20.
